Saturday Centus: The Number You Have Reached...

After months of battling cancer, she lay in a hospital bed surrounded by family. It was time to say goodby. She took her last breath. Silence filled the room. She was gone...

It's hard to let someone go. After her death, he called her every day to hear her voice. " Hi. Leave me a message." He knew in his heart she would never contact him yet he continued to call.

A month had passed and he dialed her number like he had done before.  Instead of her cheery voice, he heard "the number you have reached is no longer in service." He realized he needed to let her go.

I have a neighbor whose husband's voice is still on the machine. I have a couple of messages on my machine that I can't seem to erase--they've been there for several years.

Good take on the prompt!

Painful and so beautiful. I and every adult member of our family have saved messages from Clint, so we can hear him whenever we want. It helps. It really does.

A tearful Namaste..............cj
