See that Lane Hope Chest up there? I bought it yesterday at the thrift store. It isn't new and already had some dings but now it has blue ink marks all over the vinyl, lovingly put there by Ryker.
So what to do, what to do? I didn't have any magic erasers. I got some dish soap and a rag. No success. I tried Goo Gone. Unfortunately this product only managed to lighten the area around the mark. I tried steel wool. Not any better. As a last resort, I tried the white pasty toothpaste. Nope, nothing. I decided to go get a Magic Eraser. I got back home and hoped for the best. Mr Clean could not work his magic on my top. The pen marks were lightened but not removed. What did I learn from all this? Make sure to keep your pens hidden from your toddler and never never go to the bathroom when your child is awake, unless you take him with you.

Back in high school I read somewhere that hairspray would take out ink - I remember a girl at school got ink on her leather skirt (WHO wears a PINK LEATHER skirt to school?!) and I told her about the hairspray. She tried it and it worked!
I have seen these a million times, but never bought one. I will definitely have to try one.
Even though I have no children under the age of 10!

Before magic erasers, I used Fantastik cleaner on my walls. I have to admit, the erasers are a neat invention.
You would think I would know this by now, having seven kids, but my four year old just did this with a sharpie to my antique quilt. No luck over her either. New follower from Alphabe-thursday.

Did you try hair spray? It takes out ball point pen, so it might work on markers as well. You could also try soaking a Q-tip in a little clorox. Good luck! That was a great find!!

As a poet & one who's constantly writing, I have this problem with leaving pen marks everywhere I sit & I passed toddler stage years ago! In fact, my sofa is sporting a black ballpoint pen line from a few days ago. The wife hasn't seen it yet...it'll be off with my head when she does!(LOL) Any tips on how to remove it will be greatly appreciated.

It is the alcohol in the hairspray that makes it work. I am a nurse and seem to end up with alcohol pads in my pocket all the time. I take ink off of stuff with those all the time. Keep trying stuff, something will get it out :) You could try leather cleaner wipes too (even though it is vinyl) I get mine for $3 or so at Dollar General and use the leftovers on your car so you aren't out the money for the whole package :)

Magic erasers are like magic! Your bench will be like new.
Yes, magic erasers are great. But be careful what you erase. I have a place near the top of my stairs where one of my granddaughters (age 4 at the time) wrote her name and drew a heart. I had just painted the stairwell. I was beside myself at the time. Now, I just love that little signature. I plan to paint around it next time the stairwell gets a do-over.
Or just say no to white.... LOL! You could always dye it a darker color to hide the spots too:-)
