Saturday Centus Egg Frying Contest

This week for Saturday Centus there are no words prompts only a picture. This picture.

My question "Is it possible to fry an egg on a sidewalk if it is hot enough?"

Every July 4th, the town of Oatman, Arizona hosts a solar egg frying contest. Each contestant has 15 minutes to attempt to fry an egg using solar power. The contest costs nothing to enter and the winner wins nothing except 15 minutes of small town fame.

So if you happen to be in Oatman on July 4th, why not see for yourself if you can actually fry an egg on the sidewalk if it's hot enough. Everyone deserves 15 minutes of fame, right?

Yes, we all do deserve our 15 minutes of fame! Can the heat go away after that though?:@)

With all the hungry children in the world and they are frying perfectly good eggs on the street!.....JUST KIDDING! Hahahahahaha. Couldn't help myself.

I wonder myself if it can be done and would probably try it if it didn't make a mess. :D

That's funny. I want to know if it's possible so I'll have to make my way to Oatman on July 4th.
Very appropriate centus for this photo and the weather!

What a great and funny take on the prompt. I can just see the eggs, edges curling in the heat of the day!

Great Centus!

Great job and story...that would be a fun event to attend !

My Dad made a solar oven one hot day with a medium cardboard box and a lot of tin foil covering it and we cooked bacon and eggs in it on the driveway...thank you for reminding me of such a fun memory !

A local contest! Very clever! Is this true or did you just make it up? Wonderful fiction if it's made up.
Thank you for your kind words about my SC-post!
Best wishes,

Did you read about all the wild burros that live in town, too!

I've been through Oatman but not in the summer. We decided when the heat breaks we are going to take up a little road trip up there to check it out!

This was a cool way to use the picture.

I enjoyed it very much.
