O is For Orange Bridesmaid's Dress

Yes you read that title right. O is for Orange Bridesmaids Dress. When I was 14, my older sister JoAnna got married. There was no room in the budget to go to an actual boutique so we ended up at the local thrift store. My other sister got a rose colored dress, the other bridesmaid got a green one and I ended up with ORANGE. Jo said it was peach but I knew better.

This was the 80's Don't judge!

Not only was I wearing an ORANGE dress but said dress was about one size too small. If I had let out my breath, that dress would have split like Bruce Baxter's clothing in the Incredible Hulk. So what could be worse than wearing an ORANGE dress that is one size too small? How about having ORANGE hair to match it. Yes, this was the era of bad DIY hair coloring and I was the said recipient of such one. My sister's future MIL asked if I wanted a new hairdo for the wedding. Sure I thought why not. At the time I did not realize I would be the guinea pig in this horrific experiment.

So now we are at bad dress, bad hair. Anything else that could go wrong? Yup. my sister had me stand up with a guy I had a crush on. and she told him!!! How mortifying is that?

My sister is renewing her vows this summer. I wonder if she wants me to wear that ORANGE dress??? I hope not!

This is great! I had lots of bad 80's bridesmaids dresses just like that!

Don't worry - there were some really questionable bridesmaids dresses in the '60's and '70's too! One I had to wear made all the bridesmaids look like gingerbread men.
Oh well, a good time was had by all!!

I guess she figured the orange (which actually does look peach) would go with your hair. I am guessing you no longer let unprofessionals mess with your hair now? LOL!~Ames

Good story. One of my worst fashion memories was as a bridesmaid. I too was given a new hairdo. My husband did a double take when I walked down the isle.

I've worn some truly awful bridesmaid dresses, but never had hair to match! Great story!

I'm laughing because I wore so many similar outfits, and paid over $100 for them!! (at least you got off cheap!) I'm glad the marriage is still going strong, but I sure hope the fashion never makes a comeback! What a good sport you are for sharing! I love AlphabeThursday!

Aw! I still think you looked cute there, especially the one of you two dancing...the guy looks like he was happy dancing with you too :o) (The color looks peachy). Now, I can see how embarrassing it would be to be 14, with a crush on a guy and the guy be told of your crush. lol I look at the fashions I wore in the past and wonder now *what was I thinking!* or *what fashion genius created that style for us to buy from?*

Congratulations on your sister and her hubby renewing their wedding vows :o)

Blessings & Aloha!

Too funny! (sorry for laughing) I'm so glad that I was never asked to be a bridesmaid :) I feel like bridesmaid dresses are infamous for looking bad on purpose so that the bride would shine even more on her wedding day. Sorry that you were stuck looking so orange on her wedding day. Great story!

Awwww, you are so cute!

Maybe you should have tried to sell that to the prop department for that movie - 21 Dresses!

Thanks for the smile!

This was an oustandingly amusing prompt!

Hello.
I actually don't think you look too bad and the dress does look more peach than orange.

Thanks for sharing.

The color of the bridesmaid dress should be chosen between the bride and bridesmaid. The color of the bridesmaid dress should be matched with the bridal dress. There are free wedding apps are available to find the best dress vendors.
